  • Recently, the Financial Services Agency has begun considering a new NISA system. The main pillars are the creation of a "NISA for seniors" and lowering the age limit for investment.
In the previous NISA, investment gains were added to the principal, and the principal + investment gains were reinvested as the principal, so in principle assets grew in a "snowball" fashion.
The new NISA for seniors is for people aged 65 and over, and investment gains from the principal are paid out as dividends without being reinvested. This system allows you to receive dividends every month.
If there is no investment gain and the principal decreases, the dividends are drawn from the principal.
The number of NISA accounts is low for people in their 70s and 80s and older, so the Financial Services Agency hopes to encourage more seniors to participate in NISA.
